First Night of Fall, Grosvenor Ave.

(Homage to the Square: Soft Spoken by Josef Albers,
1888-1976, German-born American painter, writer,
and theorist of color

This happened one evening on a street in Montreal.

FIRST NIGHT OF FALL, GROSVENOR AVE.

In the blue lamplight
the leaf falls

on its shadow.

~ George Bowering, born 1935, Canadian writer and poet
