Recipe for Happiness Khabarovsk or Anyplace

(Café des Deux Magots, Paris, 1959,
by Saul Leiter, born in 1923, American
painter and photographer)

Khabarovsk is a Russian city located at the eastern end of the country, about twenty miles from the Chinese border, or more than five thousand miles from Moscow.

RECIPE FOR HAPPINESS
KHABAROVSK OR ANYPLACE

One grand boulevard with trees
with one grand cafe in sun
with strong black coffee in very small cups.

One not necessarily very beautiful
man or woman who loves you.

One fine day.

~ Lawrence Ferlinghetti, born in 1919, American poet, painter, and publisher

There's something very appealing about that poem! Thank you! Well chosen.

55years-I walked with Mary through the woods near a farm in Ill. one day last month. It was as if I were
completely alone with my soul walking beside me. It was as if a very part of me, essential to my being was my companion. How much she
is of me is beyond imagination. , a
clear belief, uncanny somtimes but ever beautifiul and right. she is the woman created for this man.

I had some fine days like the one in the poem this summer -- with a fine man, drinking strong coffee, at outdoor cafes in Belgium!
