The Moment
Each Friday we provide the link to the blog that is hosting a celebration of poetry around the blogosphere. At that site you can find the links to the many other blogs that are posting poems (new and old), discussions of poems, and reviews of poetry books.
Enjoy the festivities!
The host this week is Heidi Mordhorst.
You can visit her here at My Juicy Little Universe.

THE MOMENT
A neighborhood.
At dusk.
Things are getting ready
to happen
out of sight.
Stars and moths.
And rinds slanting around fruit.
But not yet.
One tree is black.
One window is yellow as butter.
A woman leans down to catch a child
who has run into her arms
this moment.
Stars rise.
Moths flutter
Apple sweeten in the dark.
~ Eavan Boland, born 1944, Irish poet

What a great pairing of art and poetry today, Maria! I'm working my way through some Eavan Boland poems - thanks for sharing this one. (Your choice celebrating "moments" goes nicely with Mary Lee's celebration of "days" today!)
Thank you, Maria--I really really like this quiet action poem, and I agree that it works perfectly with the art you chose. Most enjoyable!
I love that feeling conveyed, a settling of souls toward evening. "Things are getting ready to happen out of sight"-beautiful. Thank you!
Maria, The woodcut is lovely and the poem captures that moment that hovers between dusk and dark. Very nice choice. I learn about so many wonderful poets and also artists on Poetry Friday.
The last three lines captured my sensibilities:
"Stars rise.
Moths flutter
Apple sweeten in the dark."
- so many things that sweeten in the dark - there is growth in darkness. :)
And yes, I lovelove the artwork too. :)
I love the line about things happening in the dark, that moment when people move indoors into their own private lives.
I am often to blogging and i really appreciate your content. The article has really peaks my interest. I am going to bookmark your site and keep checking for new information.
Thanks for the reminder to live moment by moment by moment!
